Sakis Ioannidis is the New President of the Economic and Social Council of Greece
In accordance with the procedures prescribed by law and the Rules of Procedure, the General Assembly of the Economic and Social Council of Greece (O.K.E.) elected its new President, Mr. Sakis Ioannidis, representative of the Economic Chamber of Greece in Group III of the Council.
Mr. Ioannidis is an economist and a PhD candidate at Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences.
He is a member of the Central Administration of the Economic Chamber of Greece (O.E.E.) and a member of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC).
Following his election, Mr. Ioannidis thanked the members of the General Assembly for the trust they showed in him, as well as all the organizations participating in the O.K.E.
In his statement, the new President mentioned:
"My election to the Presidency of the Economic and Social Council is a great honor and, at the same time, a great responsibility for me. My main priority is the institutional upgrading of the O.K.E. and the strengthening of its role as the constitutionally guaranteed institution of social dialogue in the country. I believe in a modern, effective, and outward-looking O.K.E., which will participate meaningfully in the shaping of public policies, enhance social dialogue, and formulate timely and well-substantiated opinions on draft laws and important issues of economic and social policy. I am committed to working with a spirit of cooperation and open dialogue with all the Groups and organizations represented in the O.K.E., as well as with the State, with the sole aim of further strengthening the institution and its substantial contribution to addressing the major challenges of the country".
