
In 2025, the employment rate of young adults aged 20-34 who recently graduated from upper secondary or tertiary levels of education in the EU was 83.0%, up from 82.3% in 2024.
Ιn the last 11 years, this rate has improved by 7.5 percentage points (pp).
The employment rate for recent graduates with a tertiary education in 2025 was 87.0%, almost 10 pp higher than for those with a medium education at 77.2%.
Among EU countries, Malta had the highest employment rate of recent graduates at 91.0%, ahead of Germany (90.6%) and the Netherlands (90.1%). At the other range of the scale, Greece (62.4%), Italy (71.8%) and Romania (72.7%) had the lowest employment rates.
At EU level, the employment rate among recent graduates was higher for men (84.4%) than for women (81.5%).
Czechia recorded the highest employment rates for men (92.4%), followed by the Netherlands (92.1%) and Germany (92.0%). By contrast, Greece (56.8%), Italy (73.3%) and Romania (74.9%) registered the lowest levels.
For women, Malta (90.5%), Germany (89.0%) and Austria (88.8%) observed the highest rates, while the lowest were found in Greece (68.6%), Italy (70.2%) and Romania (70.3%).
