Κατά μέσο όρο στην Ευρωπαϊκή Ένωση (ΕΕ) εκτιμάται ότι οι δαπάνες για την υγειονομική περίθαλψη ανήλθαν στο 9.9% του ΑΕΠ το 2017.

Οι δαπάνες υγειονομικής περίθαλψης στη Γαλλία και τη Γερμανία αντιστοιχούσαν στο 11.3% του ΑΕΠ και στη Σουηδία στο 11.0% του ΑΕΠ το 2017. Στην Ελλάδα αντιστοιχούσαν στο 8.0% του ΑΕΠ.

Οι δαπάνες υγειονομικής περίθαλψης αντιστοιχούσαν σε λιγότερο από 7.5% του ΑΕΠ σε 12 κράτη μέλη της ΕΕ. Η Ρουμανία κατέγραψε το χαμηλότερο ποσοστό (5.2%).
