Το 2023, το 55 % των ατόμων ηλικίας 16 έως 74 ετών στην Ευρωπαϊκή Ένωση (ΕΕ) είχαν τουλάχιστον βασικές συνολικές ψηφιακές δεξιότητες. Υπήρχαν σημαντικές διαφορές σε ολόκληρη την ΕΕ, με ποσοστά που κυμαίνονταν από 83% στην Ολλανδία έως 28% στη Ρουμανία.

Το επίπεδο της επίσημης εκπαίδευσης επηρεάζει τα επίπεδα ψηφιακών δεξιοτήτων των ατόμων. Το χάσμα στις βασικές ψηφιακές δεξιότητες μεταξύ ατόμων με υψηλό μορφωτικό επίπεδο (80%) και ατόμων χωρίς ή χαμηλή τυπική εκπαίδευση (34%) στην ΕΕ ανήλθε σε 46 ποσοστιαίες μονάδες (πμ).

Τα μεγαλύτερα κενά καταγράφηκαν στην Πορτογαλία (66 πμ), στην Ελλάδα (63 πμ) και στη Μάλτα (59 πμ). Αντίθετα, τα μικρότερα κενά καταγράφηκαν στην Εσθονία (12 πμ), τη Φινλανδία (14 πμ) και τη Λιθουανία (22 πμ).
